So, other than having played bass ;) what other prerequisites are there for being a great soundguy?

In my experience being able to listen to the drummer or guitar players or lead singers girlfriend that they can't hear their boyfriend and making them understand that the guitar players 100 watt Behringer stack is too loud.....
Maybe it's just the bands that I work with... :D

Being IN CHARGE during sound check. You can't set levels for the keyboard while the lead guitar is riffing away.

... not being a smart@$$... I mean the ability to actually hear something and KNOW what you need to do to make it better with the equipment you have at hand. FWIW, I've been trying to train my ear a little using that Simple Feedback Trainer and after only periodic use I can already tell that I'm getting much better.
