New today. Most is tied to the DC16 interface device. I don't have anything coming up soon, so I've installed the software on all my devices. Will pass on any issues.
-
Thanks for the heads up.!
-
iPad Air 2 - check
iPod Touch 5 - check
iPhone SE - check
DL1608 firmware update - check
Nothing melted down, toasted, or went "Hasta la vista, baby!"
Nice!
Oh, maybe this update is out ahead of the iOS 10.3 update coming soon to a theatre near you? Fingers crossed!

Sorry, was a lame way to hit 1000 posts.

Dannnng, you missed a great opportunity to make a statement with your statistics...
Now this will be lost in the cacophony....

I have hovered over the update button several times today. I'll give it until tomorrow afternoon and if nobody screams about it. I'll pull the trigger and give it a go at rehearsal .....
Not much excitement in store for a lowly dl32r/dl1608 user like me ;)

I never even thought about making a statement. Ah well!
Dannning? My secret identity is actually Braden, but that's okay. No offense taken! As long as no one calls me "late for dinner" LOL! ;) 8)

Okay.... Updated my DL32R the night of a practice.... hehe I'm an idiot....
iPad pro is happy....
iPad Air 2 is happy
iPad 3 old school is happy, just as laggy as ever - time to replace it.
Now, this may or may not be related, but after updating MF, I went to chrome and noticed that my typing was lagging on the iPad Pro. Closed out Chrome, reopened it, and it was responding slowly.
My touch was not being recognized. Closed it out again. hard reboot
Haven't seen the issue again. This could be Chrome, it's wonky anyway.
-
Rehearsal went well, not a glitch....
Happy to test any bug fixes, but I don't think any apply to issues I had ;)

New iPad comes out next week, with a lower price. The Air 2 will also be lowed accordingly.

New Toys! Mmm! >:D

New Toys! Mmm! >:D
I need money for new toys... I need better paying gigs.
And while I am in this pipe dream, I want lighter gear, or people to move it.
I want, I want, I want........ hmm new apple product, the iWant
-
Saw an Apple commercial recently, they are releasing a limited lot of Red iPads, phones and iPods. Ooooh! I wish I could justify an IPad Pro 12.9. Maybe in another life?
The iWant indeed! LOL! ;)

I have the iPad Pro 12.9... gotta say it's a love hate relationship. It's big. It's beautiful.
It's heavy... after Pro care is gone, that screen replacement will be 500 bucks ....
I have fat and very callused finger tips from playing bass and guitar and that makes using a mini or even iPhones or any touchscreen difficult.. but the big 12 inch is sure easier on me.
-
I'd like to get some of my fakebooks loaded into ForScore, to eliminate a very heavy music case. Everything's getting too heavy at almost 62!
I want to use an Airturn pedal and the iPad Pro 12.9 would make it so much easier to read my music on a music stand.
I know, just trying to justify a new iToy! Besides I think using MF would be so much nicer on a bigger screen too.
I've almost got myself convinced. Now I have to run it by my financial advisor, AKA: my wife. I already know or no, the answer! LOL! :'(

I use the IPad Pro to mix on stage and playing bass at the same time, sometimes with sweaty fingers its hard to make a contact with a channel fader to turn up or down but notices on an app I downloaded on the iPhone QSC Touch Mix that if you tap just above the fader or below it it, it moves it just a little either way thought this was a good feature Stewart

I used that app with a former board, and yes... excellent option for us fat fingered, callused, sweaty bass players!
I cannot tell you the hundreds of times I move a fader to a setting, like -10, only to have it move up or down as I lift my finger. Sometimes an entire decibel, not subtle at all. Frustrating as hell. Not like you have time to enter an exact level when you are playing and running sound.

KM I'm looking at the Galaxy View 18.4" toy for $399 since it would allow full size view of two pages at once. Don't like that stand idea but can work around it. I have the opposite problem with the approval committee since it will take the usual kicking and screaming to move her into the 21st century of pixels vs. paper. Did this 20 yrs ago with the word processor. :) now I can't get her to stop texting. A good overview although 4 yrs out of date is this. I wish he would update it.

Steward yes other companies have a better connection with their practical customers needs such as QSC.

WK:
I like that Galaxy View! It’s $599.00 here before tax. Still better than the iPad Pro 12.9 price. I suppose that I can get by with the current iPad Air 2. ForScore lets you run in landscape mode, only showing half the page. When you tap forward on the AirTurn, it moves the page up 1/2.
At least you can see the music much easier than in portrait mode on the smaller screen. It's a money wise compromise at this point in time. Of course I still have to buy the AirTurn Pedal at only $90 CDN. It's only money!
And running MF on the bigger iPad would be so cool too! LOL!
Thanks for the link too. Interesting read! :thu:

KM take a vacation across the border all paid for by the savings. :) They are currently on sale here otherwise they're $599.
XR18 + Galaxy View = $949 vs. Apple 12.9 = $899 Is there really a comparison?

If you want to improve the performance of an iPad 3... upgrade it to an iPad 2... no kidding. The Retina display in the 3 robs a ton of processor. My 1608 has an air 2 docked and my remote is the iPad gen 2. Works great.
-
Okay, rehearsals and gigs went well with the new MF.
No issues to report on iPad 2/3, Air 2, Pro or iPhone (unsure of the version guitarist uses)
-
Did the update yesterday.
What changed on the update.?

Nothing that I can see =) At least nothing that affected me. Appears to be mostly related to the new fangled DC16 stuff.

Good, nothing new I need to learn for the coming weekend shows

That's a positive way to look at it! This is the new stuff.... same as the old stuff 8-)

Maybe I'm wrong here and way out in left field, but since it did a firmware update to the 1608 with no visible results, could it have been just a patch to work nicely with iOS 10.3?
And to answer my own question  All my iToys are playing nice with the DL1608 since I've done all the updates!
Or, pause... Was I just very lucky? Hmm.

There is a long list of new features... A bakers dozen actually, and they only apply to the DC16. There's half a dozen DC16 "enhancements" and for the DL32R regarding "improved USB drive support and recording/playback reliability on the DL32R".
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed issue where Channel Safes did not protect even numbered Aux Sends when unlinked by Snapshot Recall
Fixed issue with DC16 and Master Fader where changing Mute Group Multi-select would disable all Mute Groups
Fixed issue with DC 16 and Master Fader where changing View Group Multi-Select would disable all View Groups
Other bug fixes
The full list is shown when you go to the App Store... I'm too lazy to type it up, and the stupid iPad won't let me cut and paste it. lammmmme
-
I really can’t complain about any updates that improve the DL series mixers, even if there aren't any details, except "other bug fixes, John, that you posted. Better than no fixes for sure! 8)
Ah copy and cut and past on the iPad. I feel your pain! That's why I'm typing this on the laptop! LOL!

Copy/cut/paste works most places on the iPad, though it can be tedious, however - it doesn't work at all in the App Store! How stupid that they present you with text, and you cannot treat it as such =)
-
It's even more fun on the small screen iPhone! Ugh!

Following discussions on another thread:
Interested to know if anyone who previously experienced issues with recording to the docked iPad has seen any improvement in 4.6.
If anyone who has the time to experiment it'd be appreciated.
iPad 3/mf4.5 at the minute.

On the installed systems I have, they never had any glitches previously. I mean, they did a long time ago, but not recently ...

Did anyone notice the "Auto" view group? It's supposed to hide channels with the faders all the way down.
-
I've just updated and "auto" was the first surprise.
Maybe I don't fully understand the thinking behind "auto" but on first inspection it's something I'd very much like to be able to turn off.
There are often times when I have a fader down, the channel is active but on hold in the mix. When auto is selected my on hold channels disappear but all others are either in view or off to the side.
One of the most useful display features for me has been view groups. With limited screen space I have chosen to group my channels:
Front - vocal mics, fiddle, flute, acoustic gtr - all into their own sub-snake, Delay, Reverb returns
Back - Kit (x5), bass DI, stereo audio from Airplay (airport express)
Groups - iPad music, Delay/reverb returns (again), Kit group (stereo), Vocal group (stereo), VCAs: kit, vocals, melody, monitors.
Each view group fits the maximum 8 channels onto the screen.
As you might imagine auto makes a total mess of this system, requiring frantic swipes to left and right, hopefully not activating anything by accident on the way.
So the answer is simple - don't use auto. Well, it's not been quite as easy as that. I've got quite nimble at flicking between view groups but it's too easy to engage auto inadvertently, resulting in unwanted delays and interrupted flow.
I'm happy to hear why this is a good idea but in the meantime would very much like to remove the option for now.
Otherwise no big issues. I haven't been able to record yet so don't know if that bug's been squashed yet but will be experimenting soon.
-
I think it depends on the act, of course. For my main customer, I use a view called Primary, which has the 8 channels I need the most. Then I use Drum, Vocal, and Keyboard views.
-
Hi ShuffleBeat,
For Auto I do this:
When I pull an active channel all the way down, I simply bump it up a couple millimeters which keeps it active in the Auto view.
Thanks and good health, Weogo
-
Thanks W. That's a good workaround, I'm still left wondering what problem Auto actually solved though.
My own workaround is to improve my dexterity so as not to engage it at all.
-
Hi Shufflebeat,
With Auto, when I hit L/R, I see only the faders in the L/R house mix.
When I hit Aux-1, I see only the faders in the Monitor-1 mix.
Or any other Aux, or Effects master.
And when I go back to L/R, I again only see the faders in the L/R house mix.
I do a 'showcase' concert series with a new artist or band on stage every ten to fifteen minutes.
Even though we sound check everybody, many of them still want monitor changes during the show.
Being able to quickly jump between House and Monitors, and have the correct faders shown, is quite useful for me.
Thanks and good health, Weogo

I see your point. Perhaps I'm a little "established" in my ways and given time I'll find this invaluable, it wouldn't be the first time. Thanks for the input (pun intended).
