I have some outdoor gigs booked, and I am not sure how well I will be able to see with the iPad Air 2 this summer.
How well is it working for you guys?
Thanks!

The DL works great outdoors. We've used it outside many times. I also get great range with the Apple Airport Express.
Be sure to keep it and any Ipads out of sun. The Ipad will overheat and shut down if it get too much sun.

Yes, no problem but don't leave the iPad/s in the sun, I had a situation the first summer when I left my two iPads in the sun while I set up and then had to spend 20 mins in the car with the air-con on full holding them in front of the dash vents 'till they cooled enough to boot again. Visibility is fine but remember the battery life is less with the display on high brightness. I'd also keep the desk, amps and any powered speakers in shade as much as possible as they will shut down if they get too hot (why are powered speakers intended for general (i.e. sometimes outdoor) use painted matt black, the colour that absorbs most heat from the sun)?
I may buy an industrial sized roll of aluminium foil this summer 8)

I spend some time looking for shady spots. Direct sunlight in Denver is very intense and the norm.

I have had difficulty on sunny days (car shows etc) just seeing the ipad2 screen well even with brightness turned up. Once in a while we walk into some unknown setups without shade and end up mixing in sunshine. I'll check out that iclipse.

A hoody for your iPad? Nice! ;)

The iClipse is discontinued at Amazon, and has received quite poor reviews, as far as I can see :)

Rats! :'( Maybe a suitable one could be home made out of cardboard or something similar?

I do the sound at the "Harbour Stage" for the 'Scottish Traditional Boats Festival' every summer (it's held in a small town called Portsoy in the North-East of Scotland - 4th & 5th July this year if you want to come along) and I've never really found the iPad hard to see outside - what I have found is that you need something to hold the iPad 'about your person' between acts, when you're getting the next act on stage and set up - in the general melee I tend to forget where I've laid it down - or it could get stood on - or worse.
I've been searching for some sort of harness - without success thus far (unless someone on here knows different) - so I use a home made shoulder bag - brightly coloured so it's easy to spot if I do lay it down somewhere.
And knowing how unpredictable the British weather can be something waterproof could be a good investment as well....
The plus side to all this is that I can sit, at a table, outside the pub, down at the lovely old harbour in Portsoy and mix the gig from there - it's a hard life sometimes....

What happened your sporran, ? ;)

The sporran is where I keep the massive fee I get for doing the gig! - he lied....

I bought a STM mini ipad bag. Padded and probably fairly decent in a rainstorm. Just a carrying case for my ipad mini and keyboard. (Really hate the virtual keyboard.)
