DL32R newbie help
« on: December 09, 2020, 04:05:50 PM »
Hi all, I am a new user of a DL32R which I bought second hand. No traces of use, just a few times quite silent in a church.
I am not very use to those kind of mixers and I would like to get your help to start using it.
Everything connects superbly easy to my PC and I can control the unit.
But I cant figure out how to route the mic pre's to main out. I load show "default" and apply signal to ch.1.  I see NO meter activity at all on either ch.1 nor master.
I can patch ch.1 directly to aux.
So is there any default setting I missed to do ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot for your offer.
I am in Sweden. It might be the case that I now figured out how to use it.
I updated the firmware to latest build and re-tried and now it behave like it should.

good to hear that Jackson!

Here is a playlist about Master Fader and using it wth the DL32R. Even though I was using Master Fader 4.5.3 when I made these tutorials, they still have some great information if you are using 5.xx  :)

Here is another playlist with the Axis DC16 control console, but these videos are not just about the DC16, there is some really good and helpful things about compression, EQ and other things that are imperative in providing great sound.

Really great and informative videos!
I am using a PC to control the DL32R
I dont know if there are bugs in this software but I have
Hard to get the FX’s working correctly.
I turn the ”knob” up to send a preamp signal to FX1.
I then turn up the fader FX1 but still no fx sound.
Also the fader ”knobs” on FX1-FX4 disappears, bug??

Any video available where configure fx?

check these things...
You should try this first on an iPad if you have one.
All four FX slots (channels) should be set to POST Fader.
Let's say you want a reverb effect on FX1. You need to choose the effect you want on that FX slot, there are no effects loaded by default. Tap the top area of FX1 and you will see a myriad of choices for that FX1 slot.
Now that you have verified that FX1 is set to POST Fader, it is imperative that the input channel fader for (let's say) lead vocal is turned up.
You need to raise the FX1 slider (purple by default) to the right which will send the dry signal of the lead vocal to FX1.
Make sure that the FX1 send and the FX1 return faders are turned unto around 0dB.
You should have reverb or whatever effect you chose for FX1 in the stereo L/R output.

I wonder if I am totally crazy or there are bugs in the SW / firmware
I follow your instructions, add reverb to FX1, make it post fader.
Turn up the fx1 slider on the channel with audio.
No reverb.
Also, "knobs" for fx1-fx4 disappears. see picture:

Hi Jackson,

You can’t see the FX faders because you are in one of the four FX fader MIX views.
Go to the L/R faders MIX view and you will see the FX faders.  Turn up the FX-1.

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

That’s what I expected to hear
I am fooling around without knowing what I do.
I really need to investigate all the different views to learn.
Thanks

also, you said,,, I added reverb to FX1,
that is impossible.

you don't add reverb to an effect,
you "SEND" dry audio TO the FX1 slot, that is wh9en th9e effect (reverb) will get that audio and make it sound reverberated, only when you turn up the OUTPUT of the reverb channel (reverb return) will you be able to hear reverb.

If you have no previous experience with audio mixers, there is a lot to learn, the first thing is you must understand what we call "signal flow"
it is all just plumbing... this gets routed (piped) into this, then that get's routed (piped) into that,.... and so on.....

Input channels "receive" audio from a connected sound source. Even if that sound source is producing audio, and connected, the input channel will not get that sound unless it is routed to that exact input.
"Outputs" of audio producing devices such as microphones, keyboards, guitars etc.,  always connect to inputs of audio gear, (mixer) and "inputs" of audio gear like your mixer "receive" audio "from" sound sources

outputs connect to inputs
inputs connect from outputs

out to in
in to out

never input to input,
or output to output

Well I have lots of experience with more ”standard” mixing consoles like soundcraft, yamaha mgp16x and so on.
Its just the masterfader app i have hard to grasp
Of course i did not add reverb to fx1 what i meant is I select reverb to fx1 slot as seen in the picture

Hi Jackson, I am glad to hear that you are already keen on sound stuff  :)

Were you able to get reverb on an input?
Also, feel free to call me if you get stumped.
My phone number can be seen on my website.
Always glad to help.
What part of the world are you in?
