Title: X32 Rack Price Drop
Post by: Jkowtko on January 02, 2014, 04:43:39 PM
Too bad behringer's holding their x32 rack price point at 1500 .. If they dropped it a few hundred I bet they would consume this market pretty quickly.

That's MAP - every dealer should be able to do it for that or less. It happened today or yesterday - might take some dealers time to get the new pricing into their systems.

Where did you hear of the MAP dropping? Good thing is mine just officially got ordered today. I have 30 days to price match. I actually purchased it for $1275. I had a 15% discount. But if it drops to $1299 I'll get another $170 back.

It was announced at NAMM.

thanks for the heads up rr. i found a few people talking about the price drop. problem is i havent found any official sites selling the x32s with the reduced prices yet. nor have i found an official announcement. so i actually cancelled my order. now i have to wait for the official pricing to take place. then i'll still get my 15% off.

Rr, thank you for the heads up. i called the company i ordered it from. they were unaware of the change. i sent them an email i received back from a product specialist at behringer saying there was indeed a price drop announcement. as well as the post that was listed at soundforums which had the new prices.

they gave me a hell of a deal on the rack. $1083.74 to be exact. i wasn't expecting them to go that low.

Guitar Center and customer appreciation is an oxymoron. The coupon should be called "lack of knowledge and indifference discount".

Damn, pretty close to what I had to pay to get one of the first DL1608's ! I look forward to hearing what you don't like about it ;) .

Seriously, I'm concerned about the I/O being hard to get at on the back mostly. A Core/S16 combo would be almost the same thing with the I/O on the front but more expensive and fewer I/O :( .

Been kicking the idea of packaging the rack for a while. If you're in a chair and want to reasonably deal with the front panel then you need it at a height of around 28". Since the rack is only about 11" deep what do you do with the rest of the case. Simple it will probably hold most of 16 cables of about 30ft length. Side access panel of 17" x 20" would allow plenty of room to get at anything. This of course assumes that you have the tools to make your own cases without chopping your fingers off. This case would be like the old floor PC server units with wheels and a handle in my case. If you want a smaller unit it's easy to just put it into a 1 ft. deep rack case and front and back are equally accessible. You'll have to put it on a table to deal with the front panel and drag all those cables around separately.
I'm not talking about a standard rack case but one with the dimensions of HxWxL of 6.5"x20"x28" to avoid confusion.

Rr, for me the i/o is not an issue. I plan on using it remotely. I'll almost never need to access the front panel. I just need the I/o. Another thing that I do plan on getting in the future is an adat mic pre interface. With the new adat card I can have front mounted inputs. And the price point is great considering I can get 8 channel adat pres for cheap.

Wouldn't the Core + S16 be a better choice? I don't know what the MAP for the S16 is now but it can't be too much more than a couple ADAT boxes and the Core is cheaper than the Rack (and what does the ADAT card cost?) so it might be a wash...

The s16 is $899. The s16 and core is $400 more than the rack. And you lose 6 outputs and 6 inputs. And of course the screen and controls. So, no it's not a better choice.

And in regards to the Adat boxes. This is to add channels. The Adat card will probably be around $150. I can get an Adat mic pre for around $150. So for only $300 more I have a mixer with 30 inputs and 14 outputs.

You're not cheaper with a core, ADAT card and two ADA8200's (799+199?+700 =1698). I'm guessing at the new price for the S16 to be around $699 if it decreased at all.

Of course your not cheaper with a core. That's what I said.

Core is currently $999 wk. not $799 plus you have to have an s16 at $899. Total (rounded) $1900

Rack is $1500.

And the core does not work with adats alone. The s16 is the ins and outs. The Adats work as ins only (At least that what I am understanding).

And I plan on buying the ada8000 not 8200.  They go cheap on eBay.

If the core does work it would probably be with the 8200s. So the cost would be $999 for the  core, $199 for the card and $700 for 2 8200s. In other words $1900. The same as the core and s16.

Rack wins.

There are probably reasons to have the core and an s16 instead of the rack. One would be when you need the s16 and the core in different locations. Usually for an install. Also if you already have an s16 then adding the core makes sense too. But for the majority if situations the rack is the smarter purchase.

Never disputed the rack value. It and the full X32 are the most cost effective in the lineup. The prices are the new NAMM announced ones, you need to keep up. The ADAT card would replace the Xub card in the rack and should be able to have in and out ADAT capability. I'd advise against the ADA8000 since the basic ADAT chip has been changed to eliminate some past problems. That may come around and bite you down the road. They also had power supply problems with the ADA8000.

Also with ADAT boxes you're back to manual trims :-\

Details..details..that D.....devil is always in the details. A heaven for knob twiddlers.
An interesting approach for a guy whose main objection to the DL was non-re-callable preamp settings. :)

Turns out that the new pricing for the x32 rack is only 1199. I got some money back. I do love deals.

All the new pricing can be seen at sweetwater. They always seem to be first. Its getting hard for competitors to keep up with the x32s pricing. Even at 1199 the rack is a steal.

Let the price wars begin. Here is a deal for the DL1608 at $799. Clearance ?
http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/mackie-dl1608-digital-mixer
The producer X32 is now filling the old rack price at $1499 now that the rack is at $1199.
Unfortunately the S16 is holding at $899  :( and the ADAT card is at $299, pricey. The X32 compact is now at $1999 much better. Over the next few weeks will see this all settle out as the NAMM holdouts start buying.

Wk, where did you find the adat card price? I have been wondering what it was going to be. $299 is a little ridiculous. I looked last night at the price for the s16. I was curious if sweetwater had dropped the price on that too. I don't know why it would not have dropped. The core dropped $200 and the rack $300. So now the core/s16 combo is $100 more than it was before over the rack. It was $400 more, now its $500 more. The only thing I can think of for keeping the s16 at a higher price point is that it's compatible with more that just the x32 line. Therefore, more people than just x32 owners are buying them. I think it should be more like 599. And if the adat card is $299 it is making the s16 look a lot better.

Regarding the CCI clearance price for the dl. CCI is not a big company. They are trying to get the church market. Some companies will not even price match them. They are probably getting rid of their dl stock. What I do like about them is that they stay on top of things. Their youtube guy has a lot of informative info. He is usually first at getting new items on youtube. And he does a great job.
