Does 4.5.1 require a firmware update on the desk if it's already on 4.5?

Oop, my bad, you're right. I read the app description that said it may require, and made a stupid assumption.

May get to it today  :).

UPDATE:
Well got around to it today and nothing changed. Their " Fixed Master Fader wired update DL806 & DL1608" probably has to do with the USB wired connection. In the future I will refer to the Quasi USB wired as D-wired (for docked) and E-wired for the Ethernet wired connection to avoid confusion. A better description of the fix is in order Mackie. I did run into a few lockups in the firmware update process trying to be the optimist. Yes the abort doesn't work why have it? More on this at another time. For now only update via the "WiFi" route.

1608 already had the 4.5 firmware installed. I updated the iPad to MF 4.5.1, connected to the 1608 and it updated to the new firmware without any issues.

Works a treat!

Update - set up new factory reset Airport express with own wireless network for dl1608 (No internet connected) - Mf4.5.1 reinstalled - Not able to connect Ipad Air (Ios 10.0.2). Same story for Ipad Air Mini (Ios 9.3)... Tried forced update on dl1608 and installed MF 3 ... same result. Im sure I have a default Ethernet connection as MF4.5.1 working seamlessly when docked. Tried fixed IP as well as dynamic, AE will not recognize dl1608 no matter what.

Really spent too much time and money on fixing this as totally depending on mixing wireless for our band... not sure where to go from here.

Understand that the docked iPad is using a quasi USB connection and has no relationship to the Ethernet port. Seems that the Ethernet port was damaged since you last used it successfully.

With Ipad docked (Lightning port) all working well with all new features of 4.5.1 working well. When detatched all connection lost. On all previous MF updated there has been no issues with the wireless connection even if then AE was part of homenetwork wifi with internet connected through the AE router.

I Think Ethernet port is out of order if I am the only one with this problem.

May seem stupid but are you using the ethernet connector next to the 3.5 mm jack ?

Correct, the port marked <----> on the AE. No light appearing.

Before you ship it back and wait for repairs to take place, try a different router.
Perhaps you can borrow a cheap linksys or other brand other than Apple.

Might be worth a try, like I said in another thread I have certain routers that just don't like
the Mackie or the Behringer.

No light means no connection. Cable, router, mixer, at least one of these is bad. Swap them out until you figure out which one. It's basic troubleshooting.

Yes, for sure its a connection problem so I have tried different router, changed cable and only missing the network card of the Mackie. I have contacted the Vendor (Thomann) and waiting their reply as to next step.
Will keep you informed with developments - Would hate to ship it back as using the mixer on daily basis.

Thanks all comments and help!
Title: Check Your Automatic Downloads iPad Setting
Post by: c172essna on October 09, 2016, 04:28:47 PM
I learned a valuable lesson last night and perhaps passing it on will be of help to others.

After setting up for a gig and then attempting to sync our iPad to the DL32, I got a message that the mixer firmware had to be upgraded to MF 4.5. I had deliberately (I thought) delayed upgrading to 4.5 in order to give things more time. I certainly had not intended to upgrade 90 minutes before an important gig. I had no choice but to proceed with the upgrade. The "abort" option got me nowhere.

I turns out that "automatically upgrade apps" was on in our iPad (OS 10) settings - probably an OS 10 default.

To prevent this from happening to you... Open Settings > iTunes & App Store, and turn off "Updates" under "Automatic Downloads".

yes, it defaults to auto upgrade when you do a iOS update. The subject has been addressed here a bizzilion times to turn off the auto update feature. I too have fallen prey to the same screw up.

last night there must have been bad mackie karma in the air, I finished sound check everything smooth as silk, even had a good new verb setting happening.
Turned on my other iPad and hit the wrong sync button and wiped out my settings.  had to redo entire sound check with 5 minutes to go before start.  Luckily a small show without guitars being miked.
Only had to deal with drums, vox, bass and quickey monitor test.
