Title: DL1608 brownout?
Post by: Cshumack on November 29, 2013, 01:52:20 PM
I was mixing remotely when the sound died out of the mains and monitors. My levels on the my fader dropped off completely. I ran back to the board and by the time I got there the sound came back on.  I figured it had to be a DL 1608 board issue since the levels dropped off completely. Anyone else ever experience this?

It was in a cool ventilated area.

Did the backline go down too?

Guitar amps and racks all good during the drop.

Right, that's that theory ruled out!
Check your desk at the power adapter inlet, mine came with the centre pin of the power receiving socket, squeezed tightly together. It needs to have the centre pin slightly open to give a good connection with the adapter connector. Mine would cycle the desk power if touched, even when screwed on fully. I initially thought there was a broken wire in the cable but that's what it was.
Just a suggestion :)

Wow, that worries me, I have never had anything like that and done about 30 gigs with mine

Check the power supply, and the extension lead it went into, did you see if the lights went off on the mixer?

Was it a one off or can you replicate it?

As Robbocurry said, check the pin on the power connector. It looks like an accident waiting to happen! I wish Mackie had used something better for the most critical connection on the mixer.

Cheers
