Title: Copy an Output to Another Output
Post by: Pienuts on April 23, 2013, 06:40:58 PM
I'm looking to be able to quickly copy an entire output - let's say the Main LR output - to an Aux. Is this possible?

Those damned presets/snapshots/shows still make me feel like an idiot sometimes...  :o

Don't think so.

When on an output page ei:comp or geq select PRESET select OUTPUT store and name your preset.
To recall same procedure but select the preset you want to recall in the pop up select RECALL and press YES to the pop up

main out is stereo,
aux out is mono,
it is not logical that an Aux can use a main preset.

Couldn't it just ignore the LR settings and copy the rest?

I don't have access to mine right now so I can't test it.

Wait, I'll use just the iPad
it should tell me one way or the other.

be right back

I was using logic and Mackie wasn't.

both GEQ or Output options in saving a preset can indeed be shared with the mono Aux outputs.

Excellent; I will mess around with it this evening.

Who needs logic anyway?   ;)

Thanks, all!

You said entire output. The answer is no. You can do eq setting but, as far as I know, there is no way to copy the volumes.

@Jerrylee
The fader level is not copied but eq and comp settings are (just like when you make a channel preset)

Topsøe I know what is copied. What you mention does not copy the "entire" output. The entire output would need to include the fader levels too. I think the op needs to say exactly what it is he is wanting to do.

The OP did say exactly what he wanted to do. Even though it's not everything, it's still nice to know what I can do. I appreciate it.

This would still be a really handy thing. There are scenarios where I'd want to recall a specific monitor mix (including volumes) without changing everything *else* to go along with it (i.e. a new snapshot).

You can do that by recalling a snapshot and exclude all but the aux you want it to change

Mind. Blown.

Thanks. Just wasn't thinking about it that way. Not the *best* solution, but it's a *current* solution, and that's awesome. Thanks!!

So... I tried this snapshot/exclusion technique, and by excluding all but, say A2, it only recalls the output fader for A2 and it's EQ/Limiter settings. The only way I could get it to recall a channel EQ is by not excluding that particular channel... that, of course, means that channel's level is restored for ALL mixes (main plus A1-6).  :-\
