Title: Import new colours for channel strips
Post by: Bigalminal on October 31, 2016, 07:07:02 PM
I want add a black colour square to a channel strip but black isn't available. I could draw one easily in a graphics program and then import it. I have two questions:
1. What size should the graphic be?
2. What format is required so that the DL will recognise it?

I don't think that's possible to do. But some of the more computer literate people could better answer.

Why not just pick a color other than black and use it ?   I know my x-32 I can black out a channel and it's a nice feature. But if I knew that purple ( or your choice of other colors) with no text was an empty channel I think I could get used to that.  Plus, take it out of the mains as well so it can't do anything.

I do a karaoke session at a gig using 6 extra mics that are colour coded with electrical tape and mic socks. The mic socks only come in 6 colours (black, red, yellow, orange, green and blue) hence the need for black. The range of similar pastel shades on offer are not that useful to me.

Take a picture off something black and import it , it will give you a black square not a black channel

Yes I can do the black square but how can I make the channel black as well?

For years I have used the standard electrical color code for so many things,
when I see a green cable marker I know it is channel 5.
0. Black
1. Brown
2. Red
3. Orange
4. Yellow
5. Green
6. Blue
7. Violet
8. Gray
9. White

I found it disappointing that I could not use black, brown or gray.

I am really surprised Mackie didn't just use a standard color menu, something like this:

I really like the electrical coding idea but the standard colour codes as suggested including brown, black and great is a much better idea. I can import colour squares as images but they don't show at the top or bottom like Mackies selection do.

1- if you have a screen saver on your I pad it doesn't hurt it
2- use black masking tape
3- comprehend sarcasm
