Rackmount vs Tabletop
« on: March 04, 2016, 09:15:00 PM »
I find it interesting that Behringer made both the XR18 and the X18. Kindof bizarre that the tabletop was priced $100 more originally but has now dropped to $200 less. It seems that the rackmount version is MUCH more popular and maybe the tabletop is being blown out? I'm sure looking forward to a rackmount version of the DL1608 or a new DL2412R .

They took a lot longer to ship the X18. I had ordered one from Rat before the XR was even announced. Then the XR started shipping first and I canceled my order for the X. By the time they had the X to ship, I think people had lost interest. Not sure why the production for the X was so far behind when it was supposed to be the original product.

I'd speculate that the "X" was made to directly compete with the DL1608. But once they got folks looking at it they found the "XR" much more practical. Without the hardwire iPad dock the X has no advantage over a rackmount version unlike the DL.
