Title: Monitors dropping out
Post by: Renoman on August 27, 2015, 09:17:32 PM
Strange: In 2.1, played 2 sets, one monitor dropped out, I raised and lowered[wiggled] the main faders and it came back. Of note, the vocalist was using voice live in stereo, never adjusted the monitor fader and the mains volume wasn't effected.
Anyone else experience this witchcraft?

Not with virtual faders.  If this was a DL1608, maybe some dirt in the trim controls?  Bad output wire or connector?   Doesn't seem likely to happen at the fader itself, but software isn't perfect and there will always be hiccups.

It is a 1608. I'll try some lube in the gain pots, thank you.

I take AgedHorse's advice on lubing pots before making any moves.  (From Harmony Central's forums.)  The man has a sound engineering background and experience that anyone would envy.  (Including serious international acts and designing some of the equipment we all are using.)  Doing it wrong can result with oil attracting more dirt......  And other potential problems.

I don't think it would be the trim pots if the FOH still worked.  :)

Solid point.  Whenever one of my keyboards isn't working, it is almost always a poorly connected 1/4" plug that wasn't put the entire way in.
