House across the street is burning down. Kinda sucked when there were 50 foot flames and the fire department hadn't shown up yet  . It was only about 100 feet away from mine - glad there was no wind tonight  . Anyways seems to be on it's way to being out now :thu:.

Holy Crap!!!
Ya don't live across from that too many times in your lifetime. That would be freaky... and I'd sit and watch every second of it. And I'd be saying the whole time, "OMFG, the house across the street is burning down."
I hope everyone is O.K.

Scary I'm sure.

Scary I'm sure.
The time waitin' for the fire department to show up sure was :o ! The house had been vacant for 5 years since the last fire there - guess they should have disconnected the electricity as I'm pretty sure it was arcing that started it.

We have many vacant properties around here and had a spell last year when scrappers were breaking into abandoned homes to steal the copper plumbing, etc. one got the Darwin award for trying to salvage the GAS lines with a sledgehammer! The BAD thing was that the ensuing explosion caught adjacent homes on fire as well...

Because apparently I am a mean evil person with no conscious (so my friends say) I would be cranking some Talking Heads. ;)
I hope everything turned out as good as can be for the family involved.
