With Microsoft operating system, that holds true.  Can you imagine a server that ran for 9 years without a reboot of any kind?  It was a Novell Netware server and they even forgot where the server was located and had built walls around it.  You're lucky if you don't have to boot a Windows machine at least once a month.  My 4 year old MacBook Pro still runs on the original battery for about 7 hours.  (It used to be 9.5 so it is going slowly.  I did upgrade the internal hard drive to a Momentous XT hybrid drive.  Think I'm still running longer on the battery than most new windows machines.)  I've had it run for months without a reboot.  (But being a laptop, it's hard to resist the temptation to pull it out of it's dock and take it with me.)
