Title: 4.5 grow and glow
Post by: K-Dubber on October 16, 2016, 01:53:32 AM
I know there's already a thread about this but is there a fix on the way for this please Mackie? Beno? the grow and glow faders keep cutting out. Never had this problem on MF3.

Amazing how all those "Beta" testers didn't pick up on this or for that matter Mackie !!! Is it possible that your iPad is the problem and what version iPad and iOS? Details matter!

It's a 4th gen iPad on ios10. Yes I suppose it could be the iPad although it's never been a problem before and this issue only happens on MF4, not MF3.

Sorry!

Can you CURRENTLY run MF3 on the iPad-4 without issues?

Yep. That's what I've gone back to using. Maybe MF4 is too much for the 4th gens and earlier to handle.

I have 4.5.1 running on iPad3 (x2). So far I've not had difficulty with faders but EQ has been intermittently unresponsive, much like how you describe.

This is way out of my sphere of knowledge but I was under the impression that the iPad app wasn't such a huge resource hog and that the DL was doing all the heavy lifting, am I wrong in this? What is MF doing other than graphics which are less involved than most preschool games and sending control messages over WiFi?

Happy to be put right on this.

Since you upgraded to iOS 10 have you checked all the performance settings as listed in the MF4.5 manual? Apple has a habit of deciding for you how your setup should be not what you need. ;D

Simple deduction, increasing the iPad performance (newer models) makes the problems disappear. Conclusion MF is a resource hog!

No, I haven't done that - I'll take a look. Thanks for the tip.

did a show last night ipad air2  docked in my 1608 (after connector and tray upgrade). ipad2 remote.  The ipad2 was noticibly slower and exhibited a tendency to lock for a second or two at a time. I'll test with a 4 later.  Probable second ipad air 2 in my future..
