Title: ios 7
Post by: Wynnd on September 11, 2013, 02:01:27 PM
i plan to try ios 7 on my iphone with my fader before trying it with my ipad.  planning on prepping to back pedal to ios 6 if needed.  Any other suggestions on how to prevent the upgrade from screwing me if it doesn't work?

I have had ios 7 on both my phone and iPad for a while now. Since beta 3. And everything works just fine.

So your saying that MF works fine on iOS 7 GM ? Which version of MF?

If you have designs on downgrading back to an older iOS version you must save the SHSH Blobs (basically your iDevices digital fingerprint, and different for each iOS version) for each iDevice before upgrading, it's not possible to do this retrospectively. This allows you to create a "signed" .ipsw file for your individual device. Of course, if you upgrade to a Beta version Apple continue signing the older version until the full release of the new iOS so there's not a problem until that happens.

I use the actuall MF app with my iPhone 5.
MF worked very well last Saturday with iOS 7 beta 5.
No disconnections or other things happened.

I didn't test iOS 7 with the iPAD. Thats a bit too tricky for me because I only own one iPad :)

For anyone that doesn't understand what I am talking about. I have installed ios 7 on both my iPad and my iPhone and both are the latest versions. I also have the most recent versions of the master fader and my fader app. And both work just fine. Exactly how they did before.

So stop worrying about if they will work or not and move along.

Indeed - we have much sillier things to butt heads about here :o .

I loaded iOS 7 on my ipad3 and iPhone 5.  Had first practice session using the DL1608 and master fader w/iOS 7 tonight...not extensive testing by any means and your mileage may vary, but didn't encounter any issues or anomalies....working as expected.

Looks a little like Apple's servers either aren't up to the task or they've pulled the downloads.  It tells me that it's out there, then the App Store says all my software is up to date without updating Itunes and then my iphone.  (Really hate updating itunes.  The EULA has gotten sooooo looonnnnggg.  Ought to be a law against that.  If you can't say it in two normal typed pages, you can't require someone to be legally held to it.  And why can't you change the font size while reading it?  You can do that nearly everywhere else and small print even on my screen is getting to be a problem.)

Used ios7 for a gig last night.... No problems. I had 1 ipad docked the whole time running on iOS 6 and 2 iPads running auxs on ios7. All ok.

Audiobus developer and other music program developers warn against iOS7 .0 install. Slower response and background apps can affect recording. Simply put wait for a point release. Battery life is also lower. Apple has work to do especially in the audio sector.

Upgraded my iphone before last nights gig.  tested my fader.  Upgraded my ipad this morning.  Looking good.  I also had my first out with the DL1608 last night.  The preshow stuff went as well as my band lets things happen.  (The lead vocalist has them all gun shy about doing the right thing.  And he claims he doesn't like drama.)  It wasn't a perfect situation because the mixer was out of reach.  (small club, complicated setup.)  I could use an ipad stand there.  Normally it's closer.

Found an annoying feature within IOS 7 using master fader at tonight's gig. Didn't get a decent sound check tonight so had to do quite abit of mixing on the fly. Any way if you sweep up from the bottom of the  channel eq to get to the compressors/ noise gate you could possibly get the iOS 7 ' control center '. In the break I put a stop to it  by going to ..... Home screen, then > Settings > Control Center > Turn the toggle off at 'Access Within Apps ' ( should turn from green to grey ). Hope this saves you all abit of blaspheming ! ... Apart from this iOS 7 is working fine ...... So far !

Interestingly enough one of the "bugs" in iOS 7 is that it is almost impossible to pull up Control Center if you have a case on the iPad  .

Interesting, now you mention it I recall seeing it on my partners phone, however, I haven't seen it or managed to get it up on the iPad. Gigged last night and didn't have any issues when bringing up the compressor page. Generally everything was very stable and I had no issues with connectivity (wireless). Phew!  :)

I think you have to swipe from off the edge of the touch screen towards the center.  Works on top too.  Did someone mention if it could be shut off in a particular app?  Might be something to ask for from Mackie.  (And when we get it in two years.)

I did a show on Saturday night after updating to iOS 7 (and with a new iPhone 5s) - worked flawlessly.

I never was able to keep a solid connection with my old iPhone 4s, it would drop randomly throughout the night so I stuck to the iPad for mobile mixing. Now I feel good about using the iPhone to ride faders & mute/unmute the reverb during the show.

You can disable control center from popping up in apps.  That's probably useful.

The reason for the improvement on connectivity is that iPhone 5* has 5 gig frequency range which the 4s never had. Lock to 5gig and you'll be good for now.
