I know this can't happen, but I would love a way to control the input gain from the iPad operation. since the console is usually on stage, and I'm usually out roaming around with the iPad, the one thing I can't tell is if I have a channel that is peaking out, or not hot enough.
Being that I would have to run up to the stage and check, it sure would be nice to see the input level at each channel. Even if I couldn't change it, I at least would know what was in need of adjustment.

You are right, remote gain/trim adjustment is not possible with the DL1608 but you already have your second wish as the channel meters on the iPad already show input levels pre fade/DSP (as is common on desks with individual channel meters)  :)

I must be missing the boat on this since I can't find where on the iPad
the incoming levels are shown.
I just need to see if I need to run up to the console and adjust the trim

if you can direct me to the screen or setting you would be my
hero today !

I have the auxs set at pre fade  and l/r disabled since I only
use the aux sends for monitor feeds so far

You can be on any mixer screen, the meters next to the channel faders show the incoming signal level all the time and whichever output screen you are displaying on the iPad. To convince yourself pick an input which is showing a signal present on the meter (preferably up around 0Vu) and try moving the fader, it doesn't effect the channel meter, then try adjusting the gain.... it does effect the channel meter.

Have used it before and just zoned out.  I don't use this board that often since I usually use the house yamaha
board. Having to reacquaint myself a bit today for a upcoming show.
