Title: MF 4.5 in the rumor mill
Post by: MrDOS on August 05, 2016, 02:29:03 AM
I wish I had more info, but I heard from a friend at a product demo that Master Fader 4.5 with an improved reverb is due out in less than a month.  Hopefully, someone else here has the scoop.

I'll stick to my original guesstimate.  http://cacophony.aspinock.com/index.php?topic=1211.msg15319#msg15319
If it's earlier it will be a half-baked major release.

All y'all can see the list of most requested features here:

Better reverbs tops the list so maybe? :)

I love my DL32R, but the effects need improvement. The last MF update was great, can't wait for the next one.

I'm kinda curious how folks are liking the two reverbs and one delay in the DL32R vs the eight FX units (selectable from a large selection of FX types and with insert capability) in a Behringer X32?

In my situation, in most club gigs I do not feel the need for more reverbs/effects (I am using a Lexicon in the rack in addition to the built-in Mackie MF stuff).

Right, I forgot that is what most of youse guys are doing. You don't have to have a rackmount FX with the X32 :P .

Looks like a waterfall spectrograph is coming with whatever update shows up:

Hopefully, the Axis will be shipping soon!

Great, a waterfall, just what we need... WE NEED A USABLE REVERB MACKIE. That said, no need for an external rack (at least on the 1608) if you dock an ipad and run something like AudioReverb in the background, works a treat. Am I alone in doing this?

I agree with you.  there was a post on this thread, now deleted, that said that an updated reverb is coming.

Haha! Hadn't noticed he had deleted that post. No more betas for him then. Come on Mackie don't make us wait until Xmas. Instead of a waterfall maybe we could have live video streaming built in to MF so when someone asks if it's us responsible for the mix we can say "no no, just watching the football".

I had a try with this on Mutlitrackstudio and it worked great. It did, however, put a significant train on the iPad3 resources. With MF3/4 already apparently choking and disconnecting (docked) at random I haven't been tempted to put my credibility on the line at an actual gig.

I've mixed bands where that would come in handy . I really try to avoid bands that are going to make me look bad but sometimes it all just goes south x( .

pytchley, "no more betas for him then...."
Not so fast, 8)

I discussed details here about the new master fader app and should not have, I apologized to Ben for breaking the rules that I agreed to and did the proper thing by deleting the post.
I am still in good terms with Ben and Mackie.

If a new reverb shows up, it will just become another sore point for someone out there.  That said, I've yet to use groups.  (And I used to use them constantly with other mixers.)  Love the VCAs and the ghost faders.  This clearly isn't the mixer I purchased three years ago, but so much better.  Thanks to the software team at Mackie.
