Title: Mackie & Watts and Korg going after his old company
Post by: WK154 on January 17, 2020, 12:35:42 AM
NAMM 2020 turned out to have some interesting turns of events. A year after Mackie's 30th anniversary Greg Mackie and the revived partnership with Peter Watts (remember the QSC mixer) are competing with his old company with the help of Korg. Korg is a newcomer to the mixer business but certainly into other facets of the MI. The two models are aptly named MW1608 and MW2408 (Mackie & Watts) the numbers ring a bell. Hopefully he got rid of those blasted ribbon cables and listened to Peter Watts on the preamps. Could give Mackie a run for their money in the analog world.

Seems like chasing after the wrong technology - with everyone going digital, do we really need another VLZ/ProFX competitor? Seems odd to focus on an analog mixer with effects for their first partnership.

Actually this is the second round for Greg & Peter the first was the QSC's mixer line.

Apparently there still seems to be a fair amount of business in the analog/hybrid world. I'm sure Korg evaluated that.

P.S. Have you been at NAMM yet?
