Title: mackie 24 x 8 bus and recording question

i have mackie 24 x 8 bus from 1995  and bought a golden age project eq  onlu has one channel, so my question is  can i record a track with the eq stuck into the insert hole on the mackie  onto another track without having to do an entire mix? i need to first  get eq  on several tracks  becuase  the golden age only has one hole input.  if i do a left right mix  i will only be able to use the golden age eq  on ONE insert channel on the board. anyone know?  and if tracks are bussed do they not pick up processing from the insert hole?  is anything put into insert only processed in a left right mix?
