Even though I don't own the dl I still wanted to look at the new features. But it appears that until it is loaded into the dl itself they don't show up in the app. Not sure exactly why mackie would do this. Some people want to try the app before they consider the mixer. Has anyone else updated the app and not the dl itself and been able to see the changes?

Just checked the master fader app. Even though I did the update it still says 2.0 in the help section. I even deleted it and reinstalled.

Downloaded and running. Nothing new that wasn't described at NAMM. Remember to also update MyFader to 2.1. The list of fixes doesn't mention the Sync issue unless it's considered a minor fix???? Well time will tell. I would also reboot the iPad after a successful install of MF 2.1. You're also put on notice that all major releases will require iOS 7 or later. V3.0 will eliminate any hardware not capable of running iOS 7.0 on up.

Tap on the Graphic EQ above the main fader (just as you would if you wanted to go to the EQ on a channel) and swipe up/down on the grey parts of the screen (again just like you would if you were EQing a channel) - all the new stuff is there.....

I'm amazed by the changes.  Not used to new features with a .1 update.  I don't have any shows coming up soon so I updated.

Nothing is new in this update. It still says 2.0. I think it needs to be synced to the dl1608 to be able to use the app with the new additions. Has anyone else downloaded the app only and been able to see the new features?

Very strange. I just downloaded the master fader app to my wife's iPad. And it has 2.1 with the new features. She has an iPad 4 and still on ios 6. Mine is an iPad 3 ios 7 and the update does not work. I have deleted and re-downloaded and still stuck with 2.0.

EDIT: just went back in the App Store and it came up as an update and now it works. What's strange is that I have done the same thing several times but this is the first time 2.1 actually came through.

Rr your a smart guy. Can you explain the temperature thing in the delay setting area? I do love the delay setting. Even though I have never needed a delay it's nice to see the feedback in terms of milliseconds, meters, and feet. It's nice to that you can manually enter the distance and then the rest is set for you.

If the temp thing deals with delay I am very confused. I understand that certain temps can affect the speed of sound but humidity levels play a big part in that. I have two homes now. One in the freezing north, and one in south Florida. Humidity levels, even at the same temp, are very different.

Nifty, you can now adjust the slope of the HPF and the new LPF in the Outputs - didn't see that in their video and while it's in the image, the description of the LPF doesn't mention the function.

From there: "Notice for musicians and technicians (not for professors of physics):
The speed of sound changes clearly with temperature, a little bit with humidity − but not with air pressure (atmospheric pressure)."

I really wish they had added that functionality to the inputs too. And I continue to be mystified as to why they don't have HPFs on the Delay. Reverb, and especially the iPad channels like all the other channels? It would seem to me to be more work to leave them off than to just make all the PEQ pages identical?

So this site says humidity has very little to do with the speed of sound. Temp is more important. I was under the impression that humidity played a larger role.  Good to know.

I just spend a half hour listening to bad music at Mackie's tech support line and finally spoke with Anthony. I ask point blank is the white noise/ sync problem fixed? The answer was a unhesitating NO. I tried to get a more definitive answer as to why it wasn't fixed and the reply was I don't know. There was a hint that it may not be Mackie's fault. Must be that rotten fruit again. I asked whether he knew if the V2.1 was tested with iOS V7.1 beta again a don't know. For their and our sake I hope it was checked. As I stated in the white noise/sync thread all the iPad optimizations needs to be done along with disabling "sound check". Then before you dock the iPad turn on Airplane mode. I have not had a problem once all these things are done. Over 24 hrs of uninterrupted music with the speaker off of course! I only have three programs running MF, VoiceRecord, and Sound tools. Switching between them poses no problem. I have also used Music Player in place of VoiceRecord with no issues.

Hold the "force update" button (beside the power adapter input) and reboot the desk:)
More exact instructions are in the user guide...
I'll get the link for you in a mo...

Thanks. Yep as I suspected, should've hit the abort button. Got a hold of tech support before they closed for the evening. Only about 3 min. on hold. Very helpful and friendly guy instructed me to aboort and force update. The manual says not to hit the abort button. He said a couple people called with this problem. The firmware update hangs occasionally, and like a good ole Windows system, you gotta reboot & start over.

time elapsed between my elation that 2.1 had arrived and my annoyance that even with the new parametrics the graphic EQs are still hanging around getting in the way, even showing up as a ghost on the little EQ windows? about 30 seconds  >:(

also, they didn't fix the thing where you can't leave the side bar open without the "mixer" button far left disappearing in EQ view, meaning multiple steps are needed to get back to the mixer view.

I think I would like that too, but it would be easier to live with if the assignment sidebar was thinner.

I pointed out the sidebar issue within minutes of 2.0. That was such an obvious mistake on the designers fault. Why the hell did they not address that? And the fact that opening master fader knocks out airplay connection amazes me too. That's a huge bug. Should have been fixed immediately.

Just tap the EQ window above the right-most fader twice - easy peasy :) .

Boy I'm not happy. Took me 45 minutes to update. My ipad 3, that the mixr stopped recognizing on Friday, was recognized this evening so I went on with the update. It hung on the reboot and wouldn't recognize the ipad 3. So I put in my original ipad, it likes it, but asks what show I want to run. I make the mistake of saying the one on the mixer. Swell, now I have a blank show and my last saved show on the ipad 1 is from September.

Then for 20 minutes I tried to get the ipad 3 to be noticed by the mixer since that's where the recent shows are. I actually didn't realize the shows don't sync between ipads.  I reflash the mixer and it still won't recognize the ipad 3. Finally, I hook up the mixer to my router in hopes I can connect to the thing wirelessly. I do and am able to put the current show back on the mixer.

The short story of all this is my ipad3, you know, the one that Mackie will support after they render my ipad1 useless with it, is constantly rejected by the mixer. It's like it thinks it's a chinese knockoff power cable. All I can think to do now is wipe the ipad and start over in hopes it clears some of the cobwebs.

Is the iPad 3 fully charged? Makes a lot of difference in my case with a cable.

86% and it shouldn't matter at all. Basic connectivity should be a given.

You mentioned something about a cable which was confusing - I assume this is a 30-pin iPad directly docked, not trying to use a 30-pin extension cable? Those only seem to work well if the iPad isn't charging.

Oh, and no one has yet mentioned V2.11 so now I have :) . I actually was bitten by the bug it fixes - I have an iPod Touch 4 that still had V1.5 on it and when I upgraded to My Fader V2.1 it kept crashing. V2.11 works fine :) .

yeah, but that's my point! you have to do two steps to get out of there back to the mixer! either hitting that little EQ window twice or shutting off the sidebar and hitting the far left "mixer" button.

just move the mixer button over a little to keep it available and problem solved, why didn't they do that?

this matters because i (like many others) am making these changes while playing, so every second counts.

At 91% it starts to have connection issues at 81% I get the unknown devise message and no connection until I recharge to 100%. Try it see if it solves your connection problem.

What? That's crazy. I'm not saying you're wrong, but good grief. Do I need to wear a tinfoil hat and point the mixer due west too?  Last night it was fine initially at 86%. What happens is, as soon as there is a bug (white noise, upgrade hang, etc) often the mixer doesn't recognize the ipad anymore.  During the bug it doesn't tell you it doesn't recognize it, the mixer just stops working. A reboot used to clear the problem but now it seems the only thing that does it is time. I suspect I'll dock it tonight after work and will will work again.... until it doesn't.

Meanwhile I've had my ipad1 unsync and not sync back in the last 2 shows so that's new. Usually it just drops for a few seconds. The ipad 3 does the same thing. I'm wondering if I just have a bad mixer (hardware).

One difference between docking an iPad in the DL1608 and connecting via a cable to a PC is the charge rate - I wonder if there's a simple "mod" to disable fast charge on the DL1608 and if that would fix the connection issue? Those of us that keep an iPad docked don't need fast charge and even if you are undocking it for wireless as long as it's charged up ahead of time theres no need of fast charge either. Maybe just cut a trace on the connector board or ?

you wouldn't think that the charge rate would affect the connection.  Maybe it gets a bit warm?  Heat affects a lot of things.  Anyone cleaning their connectors regularly?

The charge current is probably noisy and couples to the signal lines either capacitively or through the common(?) ground. More current = more noise :( .

Just a reminder I'm doing this with a 3ft. extension cable. Now for the tin hat part. At 91% when it looses sync and I unplug/replug at the iPad end I get no connection. When I unplug /replug at the DL end I get re-synced consistently. Your time warp explanation I'm not buying. So when you get to it make sure it's still not connecting and then charge it to 100% and see if it syncs. What do you have to loose? Your iPad 3 is acting a lot like it's on a 3ft. extension. I never liked the 160 ohm resistor connecting iPad and DL grounds but without a schematic I'm guessing why.

So it appears my ipad 3 is done syncing with the mixer for good. It's charged 100%. When I plug it in the battery icon gets the lightning bolt symbol for a fraction of a second then says "not charging" and it won't connect. Period, end of story.

Oddly, something new with the upgrade that has me worried is when UNDOCKING my original ipad the Master Fader display goes away for a fraction of a second and I can see a yellow triangle warning from the IOS (which is 5). I'm assuming this is some "not compatible" warning, but it's not there long enough to read. Then the Master Fader app screen shows up again.
