Analog Mixers / Mic Input Levels - 1604VLZ4

Hello.

Ever since I got the 1604VLZ4 I have to max out the gain and level on a microphone like an SM58.  It happens on multiple channels.  What is the problem and how do I troubleshoot it?  I have used another 1604VLZ4 and had the same issue.

Much as Master Fader 5.2 now works on all their DL mixers, it still won't work on the older iPads.  So while development of MF 4.5 has stopped, availability won't go away until they stop total support for the legacy mixers.

Also, the M1 Macs will load the iPad versions of Master Fader from MF 3 through MF 5.2 (Both iPad and Mac versions.)

I've got an iPad Pro and have BOTH MF 4.x and MF  5.2 on it.  I just use the one I need and there has never been an issue having MF 4.x on an iPad.  (Except the very first version of iPad.)  You don't have to roll back the iPad OS to run Master Fader 4.

Hi. We use our DL32R for mixing the whole band for rehearsal and performance both with in ear monitors and we also connect the usb hard drive to capture the recording. The wav file outputs levels are so low that in the DAW you can't even see the shape of the sound wave and it appears flat and the levels need to be boosted in the DAW to get them usable, but the sound quality suffers as a result. The input levels on the mixer are healthy for use as a PA mixer.

Is it possible to increase the recording levels without increasing the PA levels?

Thank you for this information....I still have 2 (1 a spare) DL806's in pristine condition perfect for the duo I play in, and after 7 years of usage, finally decided to investigate recording to ipad. Should've done it years ago...even for a simple virtual soundcheck.  However, couldn't get, what seemed to be an easy procedure, to work using MF 5.2 and, after a fruitless Google search found this thread....works a treat....I will use a little and then upgrade to FULL version to increase quality....Once again thank you.

Issue:
I am using a Mackie DL16s. I connected to the network and opened master fader 5 and tried to connect. I am being prompted to update the firmware. However, each time I try it fails. I got this message: "Disconnection Notice" and "An Unexpected and unrecoverable error occurred during execution of an app state machine. Please reconnect and resync.".

Solution:
From Mackie Support:

We’re seeing a number of DL16S units ship with faulty firmware. You can fix it with a force update.

To perform a force update, please watch this video and carefully follow all steps:

http://ipsw.me is how I’ve downgraded my iPad in the past but only the latest updates are signed and can be installed.

Think I found my answer. You cannot roll back an IOS, and the Ver5 MF only works on the newer IOS.
