NAMM 2016
« on: December 27, 2015, 02:25:13 AM »
With just 25 days left till showtime it's been a deafening silence from Mackie regarding anything new. Beno are you just going there to be present with a 3.5 year old mixer line (4 yrs. if you count announcement) or is there something more. Boom boxes don't count.

Maybe they’ll spring a re-imagined DL1608 on us unannounced? Just like MF 4, which was a nice surprise. Or MF 4 for Android, Mac and Windows would be cool too.

Maybe they'll just pull 16 pres from the DL32R and call it a DL16R.  ;D Seems we've been there before.

I can see either being a good thing.

Unrelated - Anyone know where Mackie is writing Master Fader?  Had a conversation that had one saying India and another saying USA.  There's no bet on this, but I'm curious.  Mackie's tie to Apple products makes California seem likely to me.  (What do I know?)

With the following event from a major supplier are we going to see a replacement of the DL806? Possibly a rack mount version or stage box like B...?

"Sorry, the Mackie DL806 is no longer available. We've left this page up for reference only. Check out the great alternatives on this page or call toll-free (800) 222-4700 to speak with a Sweetwater Sales Engineer about similar products."

I suspect the 806 was a commercial failure (too little too late and fro too much money.). Still love my 1608 though, of casual users (to whom I sometimes pass the iPad when I'm playing) it's a doodle to use.

I think the note on the DL806 was for the 30 pin model.  The Lightning version is still available although backordered.

Yes after calling Sweetwater on this I got the skinny that it may only be the 30 pin version. Too bad since it should never have been released in the first place.  ;D Yes they are on back-order.
Rumor has it that some MFG's are introducing new mixers but no-one is willing to pre-announce this year.

Long & McQuade here in Canada are only stocking the DL32, no more 806's or 1608's. Hmm... I think you can still order a 1608 Lighting, though, maybe? Should call them and inquire, just for interest sake.

I'd say it makes sense to drop the 806 but the 1608 is still a very useful bit of kit. Interesting to see what they announce at NAMM

I would agree with Sam, the small difference in the lower price for the 806  is not attractive enough to sacrifice 8 channels for.  From a marketing standpoint I don't see the value in retaining it in the lineup.

in Europe the 806 is well under half the price of the 1608 (£326 against £725 for the lightning versions) so it still offers a lot for the money if it has enough inputs but I guess not may who only need 8 inputs need all the other bells and whistles too so, for them, a small analogue desk is probably the way to go.

As usual SAM the pricing structure between the US and UK make little sense. The XR16 the DL806 counterpart goes for $399 here. Thomann wants £412 for what at today's rate should be £269 (£143 more) go figure. So in Europe the Mackie is less expensive at £326. In the US it's $100 (£67) more than the XR16.

P.S. Could also be that Europe hasn't received the latest price cuts from Behringer.

Yup, was it ever thus...... At least you usually are on the winning end of the deal in the US  :(
