Android App for DL32/DL1608
« on: February 11, 2016, 03:03:30 PM »
Hey BenO here is your chance to fix the iProblem. He has a proven track record and is even considering the DL32.

Finally a wired solution in sight.

He's also asking for people to vote for which further mixers he should support. He lists the DL32 not the 1608 but hopefully it could cover both. I gave him my vote anyway.

Mixing Station for the X32 is very good, a DL1608 version would be great.

Mixing Station is an Android app developed by David Schumann originally as an alternative to Behringer's X32-Mix iOS app. It's very well regarded over on the X32 forum. David appears to be developing ports for other digital mixers. https://dev-core.org/mixing-station/

What is Mixing Station?

An alternative UI for some, a Godsend for others. Most definitely a bargain.

At this point it's the last nail in the DL coffin. Too bad BenO missed this opportunity, too busy with Axis

I'm not so sure, my DL is still a great mixer, it get's used on 80% of my gigs, and I'm still using MF 2/Classic

I have two Behringer X32s, I use the Rack as a stagebox (with an X-ADAT card and an ADA8000 for 8/8 extra I/O) and the Compact at FOH. It's a great setup and brilliant for the jobs the DL can't handle but I'd intended to sell the DL and use the Rack in it's place which just hasn't happened, I just pick up the DL as the best tool for the job much of the time.

Very happy camper here with the best of both worlds. Now if I could just afford a Fohhn Linea FOH rig my life would be complete

Re iOS update thread:

Just means I have 2 iPad3s which can't keep up with the rest of the world, they are eventually restricted to flakey dl1608 controllers. Not the original offer. I've just had a play with the xAir app with a view to recommending the xr18 to the band - nice. It could so easily have been the dl32 but not with this level of user neglect.

An android app hands the reins of control to someone more trustworthy than Mackie, which can't be a bad thing.

I wouldn't say the last nail - in some cases, if Dave can be convinced to adopt the DL series next, it means new life and new tablet possibilities for a good mixer. From my previous job I hate android with a passion because of their lax mandatory guidelines for manufacturers, both in terms of OS and chipsets. But if Mixing Station can take that on and provide life to the DL series down the road, great! Being able to buy cheap android tablets for mixing for the band, even better.

I'm happy with my current DL1608, then again it was a monumental step up from my 01v, which was a step up from a Mackie 1642 with a rack full of gear. Can't wait to see what the next one is in 4-5 years.

Well I definitely won't be buying another mixer, I'm 63 and my DL1608 and X32s (Rack and Compact) should see me out. Nor will I be bothering with any more Android devices (I have a Asus 'droid 7" tablet and is't a perfectly good piece of kit). I'm happy and comfortable with X32-Mix and Master Fader Classic. It's all about getting the job done and learning to get the best out of a digital desk and it's software is not a trivial task.

I do recommend Mixing Station to those of the Android persuasion and may well purchase MS Pro in the future should I get to grips with my Asus tablet (I have MS lite on the aforesaid 'droid), my admiration for David S and what he's doing is huge.
