Gain/Trim question

Hi,
I’m new to this forum. I recently purchased a DL1608 to replace my CFX12. I’m starting to do the setup and have been referring to the Master Fader’s owner’s manual when I have a question. I noticed that it looks like the DL32 has both a gain and trim on the app and the DL16 only has a trim. I was wondering if that indicated that the gain must be set on the DL1606 itself? Also what is the difference between the gain and trim?

On the 1608the gain is manual on knobs on the 32r it is digitaly controled analog gain , trim is a level control after converters and meters.
On the 1608 i set the gain conservatively and use the trim to make up , that way i can trim them down without having to go to the mixer
