Pros and Cons of providing Schematics to the users
« on: July 31, 2020, 05:44:47 PM »
Let me first address the most ridiculous reason of all to withhold schematics from users, the competition will get all our secrets. What a joke! There are companies in China that will do all that for them so whats the point.

Pros: If we initially had the schematics of the DL1608 with the mixer much of the ill will generated by this secrecy would have been eliminated and perhaps Mackie would have received  some good solutions to problems from its user base.
Some of the warranty returns would have been avoided because the technically savvy users would feel confident to do the repair themselves saving lots of down time.
The WAG's (Wild A.. Guesses) to solve the problems would not exist saving everyone lots of otherwise wasted time
With schematics the answers to questions would have more validity.

Cons: Of course the Forum posts would suffer  :)
Repairs would of course void the Warranty which as discovered is of questionable value.

These are just a few reasons pro and con. What's your take?

Cheers
