ProFX6 v3 question

I have a ProFX6 v3, have question about USB and faders on channels 1 and 2.

Checking out with headphones, channels 1 and 2 mix like they should, faders (knobs) work fine.
Then I plug in the USB for Mac I/O.
When I select "TO PHONES" to engage computer monitoring, it defeats the settings of the faders on 1 and 2.  The channels work, but just let the sound pass through; faders do nothing.  Gain controls work on both channels though.

What am I missing here?  Or is this just how it works?

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have a ProFX 10 v3, it might be relevant for me in the future.
