I am in 100% total aggreeance. NOBODY has. And nobody should. Duh.

But my point was clear in my earlier post. And apparently, with you attempt at sarcasm cyberhippy, you have validated my point.

FYI, up to this point the dl1608 is the finest mixer I have ever used. My point still remains it's not the finest out there. And still NOBODY has said that. I never said anyone did.

I replaced a fully functional MixWiz.  Been using that for the last 6 years and it's been solid, so the ipad remote capability and show saving functions were what sold me on the DL.  I don't think it has been a mistake and without regard to what anyone else makes, the DL is the mixer I'm going to be depending upon for the next 5 years.  (Maybe longer.)  I'm looking forward to the improvements that Mackie is planning for Master Fader.  If they ever decide to put Master Fader aside, I would hope that they would open up its development to us.  (A lot of us have had some programming over many years.  In my case, Pascal, PL1, Assembler, Basic Fortran, RPG)

wyndd the dl as is, is a great mixer. there are only a couple reasons i am bailing on it. 1) i personally have gigs that i need more channels. i have made due for many years with 16. there have been some gigs where i needed more but made due. but i really could have used a few extra. 2) the idea of programable gains to me is now huge. the main reason for this is that i have been putting the dl on the stage. typically near the drums. and it can be hell setting gains. if it wasn't for the wireless mixing i would put the board somewhere else. possibly even with a snake. but my idea of this kind of mixing was to use the mixer as a stage box. with my new rack i can do this. i can plug everything in and walk away before there is a sound on stage. the x18 can do this too. i debated on that one, but the wait would be to long and i really want the extra channels.

I can see all that.  I also own an Alesis Multimix 16 for recording 16 channels and I use it from time to time for an additional mixer.  It's got 8 full mic channels and 4 stereo channels.  I can make any of this work, but it's rare for me to need more than 16 channels and with 16 channels I usually have a few that I don't need.  I don't want to upgrade my system.  (I'm 60 and how many more years can I do this?)  I am lightening the equipment and shrinking by getting rid of my larger stuff.  (Probably keep my Leslies, my Kustom 250 guitar amp and a decent bass amp.  But the Altec Lansing horns and mids need to go.)   My reduction has resulted in a full PA system that weighs less than 250 pounds.  (And 100 pounds of that is the mixing stack.  I can probably do better there.)
