Surely you still need a router in the system WK (your knowledge is much greater than mine but I didn't think you could connect more that two devices without a router)?
Sam it actually depends on the software implementation. Knowing Presonus you will most likely need an access point. Once there is a manual we'll know for sure. I doubt that they have the inclination to implement ad hoc WiFi. I just remembered that this is a PC implementation and they lucked out. Here are some articles describing ad hoc.

If the Presonus software doesn't support ad hoc a hotspot in the PC will fix that problem.

Build into iOS7 is Multipeer  Connectivity Framework a form of mesh networking. Apps like FireChat.
