I was wondering if anybody could help me with my musings...

What I am proposing is using a couple of DL32Rs, one as a master on one side of the stage, and one as a slave on the other. I know that I can patch the two together and make shared use of the the Wifi from the AP that is present on the master DL32R as the control data is replicated over the Dante network to the slave DL32R. I understand that in this mode, I still have a limit of 32 inputs, it's just from which physical sockets on the DL32Rs that they come from.

I know that as far as inputs are concerned, I can patch the inputs on the slave DL32R to inputs on the master DL32R... so for example, if I was patching the kit into the slave DL32R, they would then be controllable as channels through the MF app on the master DL32R.

I also know that I could have one the main L output patched on one of the DL32Rs and main R patched on the other. All good.

What I am wondering though, is that if I am using the auxes for stereo in ear mixes, I could use one DL32R for 7 stereo mixes and the other DL32R for another 7 stereo mixes. I don't think this is possible given the way all the channels are controllable for both DL32Rs through the one master fader app... but, if I was to do this in the old analogue way and use an XLR splitter to share the same inputs between both DL32s, I could. Can I do away with the analogue split and do the same with Dante - sharing just the inputs but not the outputs... understanding that I would have to run up two MF apps... one for the master, and one for the slave - but that would give me control of two distinct sets of auxes... those on the master... and those on the slave.

Of course, the other thing that interests me in this arena, is that I could use all the auxes for Waves Multirack on the master and have the slave desk as auxes for just inears.

I know with other mixers, I can send just the inputs via Dante and mix from scratch on that desk... but I'm not sure what happens in this case as the DL32 also sends control data over the Dante network...

Any experience in achieving this - or is this one for Mackie support?

You can only control one DL32r at a time from one ipad , but you can send your channels post dsp to dante and set up a second DL32r with input from dante and get acess to 14 sends from a second ipad with the same eq /comp/gate
If in doubt ask

Brilliant - that's the clarity I was looking for.

Two iPads, one dedicated to each DL32R is what I would expect.
