Welcome to 2021
« on: January 06, 2021, 07:12:12 PM »
For those that survived 2020 I hope that this year will restore some normalcy to the Music Industry. My DL1608 has had a reprieve from being sold since there is no market at this time. The positive results from this pandemic changed the way we do business going forward. What ways do you see changes to what you used to do?

Has anyone found a reasonable way to rehears remotely? Artaudio had one suggestion  http://cacophony.aspinock.com/index.php?topic=1566.msg18454#msg18454   .Has anyone found other solutions?
Cheers

Hi WK and All,

Just my opinion  -  we are not going to see 2021 be like 2019.

I looked at my live audio production business as a smart, risk averse choice, with
a variety of smaller, medium and larger gigs, a bit of install work and some recording.
The idea that circumstances would dictate almost a whole year with
no gigs never crossed my mind.

My big, six weeks summer music camp says they will happen in person.
Or online, or a mix of the two.  We'll see.
I'm tentatively on for a big dance festival this summer, but don't expect it to actually happen.
Maybe some of the fall festivals will be happening.
Not a peep from the local university about May graduation, or any other events.

My crystal ball says we will see more, smaller, lower-paying gigs than
big, high-paying ones.
Small, light, capable digital mixers like the Mackies will be useful.

For online rehearsals, many musicians I know are waiting till latency drops significantly.
In my rural area the best we have seen is about 50milliseconds send/return.
A few folks in cities with fiber have been able to get down close to 10ms.

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

Hi Weogo,
Our way of life has changed in a years time and going forward will be driven by innovation. Shopping was the obvious trend that switched into high gear this past year. The MI as many other industries and Schools have switched to other means to provide their services and products. 2020 has ushered in a new era. Technology as always has led the way.
Cheers and be safe.
