Streaming music remotely via DL1608
« on: August 05, 2016, 07:56:45 PM »
Hi,  Our church has a DL1608 with an iPad.  We tend to use the iPad remotely from the mixer, for logistical reasons.   Today I needed to play some music over the sound system, but ideally also needed to be remote from the mixer.

Is there anyway that I can stream music that is on the iPad without the iPad being docked with the 1608 mixer, even if we need to add some more equipment?

Thanks

So I use the Airport Express to create the wifi connection between iPad and 1608, and then what, plug the 3.5jack on Express into the 1608 as well and then I will be able to stream?

Thanks

Once your iPad is connected to the router don't forget to swipe up from the bottom of your iPad and activate AirPlay and select your router from the pop up menu.

As long as the 2 second wait isn't a problem.  The other choice is to have the music you want to play on the docked ipad and use Tango to control it.  There is no lag that way.  I use it that way for my theater group.  Time lag doesn't work for me there.  Airplay is fine for break music.

Tango is available at the App Store.  You'll need to install it on the docked ipad and on the remote control device. (I use my iphone, but ipads work too.)  You run Tango on the docked ipad as the slave and then run it as the master on the iphone.  That gives you control over your docked ipad's itunes list.  I need each song to stop after playing, but the default is to play the next song.  You can add songs to the play list on the fly.  You can use a full playlist as is.  (Or choose to play in reverse order.)   If the delay isn't an issue, you don't need it, but if you want instantaneous response, Tango is hard to beat.

And it will run in the background on the docked ipad so you will still be able to use Master Fader while Tango works.
