DBX Driverack Px > Mackie SR1530 + SWA1801
« on: June 10, 2014, 10:52:09 AM »
I need your help for the best DBX Driverack PX configuration with my Mackie SR1530 and SWA1801 speakers.

In the beginning of the path i use a Mackie 1640i mixer which Main L and R outs go to DRIVERACK PX in's.

At the end of the path are my MACKIE SR1530 (2x) tops and MACKIE SWA 1801 subs (2x).

Swa1801 sub have a volume control knob but the SR1530 don't...when "on" they are at full power...

My first question is : should i connect them as "satelite" (where the sr1530 is fed by the swa1801 high pass filter) or use all DRIVERACK PX's main(x2) and sub(x2) outputs directly to each speaker?

My second question is : Since SR1530 don't have a volume control know how do i adjust Balance and Speakers Levels?
What's the best configuration possible for these speakers?

Thanks!!

Why bother with the driverack PX ?  I'd just run the outputs from the mixer to the subs and the highpass outputs up to the tops. Hopefully with the subs turned all the way up they can keep up with the non-adjustable tops?

I would use the pass thru on the subs to the tops, that way you can adjust back the amount of bass on the SWA1801 and you have plenty of it. 1050W (combined 800+250) per side vs 60W for mids and 25W for highs. As to the PX you don't want to use it for a crossover but there are other features such as feedback control that would come in handy since your coming out of an analog mixer with none of that.
