anyone having phantom power issues?
« on: October 01, 2015, 03:47:05 AM »
love my dl32r, but i am having phantom power issues.
it started when i moved to iOS 9 could be a coincidence, but  that is when it started.
it seems as if the phantom power is turning on and off,it doesn't matter which channel or which mic i use.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

very unfortunate unless it is under warranty,
that does not sound like a firmware issue but instead hardware.
I would suggest calling Mackie,

Hi Chris,

On the DL32R I often double-assign channels.
Analog-input-1 goes to channels 1 & 17, input-2 goes to channels 2 & 18, etc.
When doing this, almost everything is separate for the two channels, except for
gain and phantom power.
So if I turn on phantom power for channel-1, it also goes on for channel-17.

Check your patching  -  do you have any inputs assigned to two or more channels?
If so, then this is likely what is going on.

Good health,  Weogo

i think i gave isolated the problem as bad power to the dl32r.
the actual ac coming from the venue fluctuationg just enough to have the phantom turn on and off causing the mics to lose power then reaqquire it making the lovely pop that comes with the powers return.
as soon as i can prove it i will update post.
it worked flawlessly fri and sat,
i have an outdoor event today which may provide unstable power and might
 add some additional insight.

Hi Chris,

Sounds likely that you have found the issue, and am glad you have discovered this!

For me, digital mixers are always on a UPS.
I mostly use a little Tripplite InternetOffice300, but if I'm on an iffy generator, or
for some other reason expecting significantly varying voltage, the bigger unit comes out.
The IO300 beeps while on battery power.
Most of the venues I work around here have pretty good power so
it rarely switches over to battery, and I have yet to go in and cut the wire to the beeper.
The bigger unit allows the alarm to be turned off.

Thanks and good health,  Weogo
