If you go into Anderton's profile on HC and look over to that amazing right hand column:

"Anderton currently has 2 friends."

Hey, I figured I'd befriend him - he is doing what little he can to get HC 2.0 fixed for us after all. He really just works there these days and isn't part of the management team :(. You should all befriend him too:

This begs the question:   Why do we need a friends list on a forum?  If you're posting in an online forum, aren't you already participating in a social network?  Why does HC feel the need to try to be "facebook for musicians"?  What's next - a text box so you can tweet what note you're playing right now?

No disrespect towards Craig Anderton.  I've been reading his stuff since I first learned how to wield a soldering iron 30 years ago.  I have nothing but respect for the guy.

It isn't a forum - it is trying to be all things to all people.

It started at zero for everybody on the day of the switchover so doesn't mean anything yet. I just got a chuckle out of that "Anderton currently has 2 friends" considering all the people hatin' on him since the changeover :o.

How to amass lots of friends:

1)  Get a house that has a swimming pool.  The downsides to this are that you'll find it impossible to keep any beer in the fridge, and you'll never be able to find a dry towel.

2)  Get a warehouse.  It's amazing how many friends you'll have that just need to store a "little stuff" for "awhile".

3)  Get a shop.  It's amazing how many friends you'll have that "could use a little help" on a "small repair job"... "in your spare time"... but you'll have the opportunity to refine your mechanical chops to a whole new level as many of these projects will be a challenge.  Also, you'll come away with a whole new perspective on your odds of winning the state lottery... as million-to-one, or even billion-to-one odds will seem routine when it comes to thinking you’ve seen everything.

4)  Get a box truck and hand truck (or better yet:  an appliance hand truck).  This combination of items works well as an impetus to prune down any pile of spare cardboard boxes that would otherwise accumulate... unless, of-course, you also have a warehouse... then the cardboard boxes will just leave (with you and your box truck) for awhile... but will return (with you and your box truck)... fully utilized.

5)  Get a listed business phone number, and contribute to the first charity fundraise telemarketer who calls (which should happen within a few minutes of the phone being activated).  Guaranteed, you'll have all kinds of new friends who will call morning, noon, and night... 7 days a week.  As a bonus to having all these new phone friends, you'll seldom have a concern that your phone might not be functioning.
