This is my favorite flattop. It's an Alvarez Yairi DY-53 "Canyon Creek" European Jumbo from the late 80's. Sweet playing mahogany neck and a spruce top w/ beech (I think) sides and back. I string'er with a Martin Bluegrass string set that has a nice round bottom when playing fingerstyle and lends some authority to stumming. It has a very unique and slightly feminine sound and sits nice in a mix with other acoustics for a really lush track. Looks a little goofy on a strap while performing but it's used mostly for songwriting and recording. Only thing I would change is to dull the finish a little for a slightly warmer tone... but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. She's too purdy!
