i'm getting the "slow modern EQ" thing, but it jumps between vintage and modern just fine.

+1 to not seeing much point in the vintage EQ anyway; if any EQ scheme was ever born for touchscreens it's true parametric!

conversely, grabbing a knob and turning it is intuitive when there's an actual knob, while doing that weird "slide finger up or down, watch knob turn by itself" thing seems unnatural.

That has always bugged the crap out of me too, oh so realistic   :facepalm:
