Different strokes. I not only don't want isolation when I'm mixing, I don't even use a double muff. I have half of an old Sony wired mono. i don't do loud shows, though.

I don't "mix" on the headphones - and don't know any live sound pros that do. I use them only to solo something in which case it's important to have that isolation to spot weird noises and maybe do some fine EQ adjustment.

Same here, except that I don't need the isolation, because my shows aren't loud.

By "when I'm mixing", I meant when I'm not recording. When I'm recording, I want all the isolation I can get.

BTW here's the headphones I use - on sale even :) ! :

I use these, they're phenomenal. http://www.gk-music.com/ultraphones.htm

OOOOh, those are nice indeed!

Just got the Bose QC25 Active Noise cancellation phones. I was using a pair of Vic Firth ones, that practically wrecked my ears, they were so tight. At a long school dance they were great, but ouch time for sure. These ones are very comfortable and protect my old ears.  ;)

The Bose system drives me nuts. It physically hurts me when it's running.

Is it the ear cups or the active noise cancelling? But whatever it is, not good for you.  :(

Definitely the active system. Turn it on, instant pain.

I fly a lot, and with other techheads. I've tried more than one.

Haven't actually worn them for a long period yet. I will definitely keep my ears open. No pun intended.

I've got the extreme isolation - 25 db headphones too.  Paid $50 and considered them a great value.

Make sure you have the virtual headphone volume up fully as well as the hardware knob. It's on the QAP at the bottom confusingly labeled as "Monitor" with two sliders unhelpfully labeled "D" (delay, WTF?) and "L" (level). Turn the "L" all the way up - it's stoopid to have it anywhere else AFAIK.

Yeah that is dumb. Thanks Ron - I didn't realise that it was for the headphones. Who would have thunk!

I finally got around to this and thanks.

I don't see the monitor that you mentioned.  Now at the moment my ipad is running detached and on it's own.  meaning the DL1608 is elsewhere.  will it show up once it is attached or am I missing something?  I am using MD 2.1.1

I assumed you were using V3 of MF, no clue using the obsolete MF. Could be hardware - or upgrading to the latest MF might fix it?
