it is normal behavior, but it is so dumb that audio shows up on the channels with nothing connected to the inputs.
It makes one think, gee, how useful are these meters?
Still a great piece of gear though

I noticed the same behavior with the DL-1608. Not an issue. A distraction, maybe, but not much else.

It's caused by the gross impedance mismatch of an open input. Feel free to wire some 10K ohm resistors between pins 2 and 3 of some XLR-M connectors to properly terminate the open inputs if it triggers your OCD

Really RR. First it's a male XLR for inputs, second you don't want a high impedance source for inputs most mics run between 50 -600 ohms. Remember it's a voltage interface with a rule of at least 1/10 th or less of the preamp input impedance which is usually around 2.5k to 5K. That isn't 10K. Short 2 to 3 for minimal noise. If you're really paranoid wrap the shorting wire thru a ferrite bead to minimize RF. If you still see any meter at all and your preamp gain is low you may have a defective channel.

I had a 10K at the time, stuck it straight in - We don' need no steekin' connectors
