DL32R headphones output
« on: September 13, 2016, 06:57:22 PM »
Here's a question I'm too lazy to go find an answer to right this second...

What is routed to the headphones output on the DL32R?

How is the headphones output mixed?   Can I link an aux to it (through the matrix) and then use the built-in preamp to drive a set of headphones or IEMs?

Since that baby sits on the stage, I don't mix with headphones, never even hooked up a set to it, but just got to thinking it might be pressed into use for a wired IEM for a guest singer or something.  Hrmmmm
It's probably a lot quieter than my crappy behringer headphone amplifier....

Like you, I don't mix with headphones. However, I do like to use headphones occasionally to solo a channel. So, I connect the headphones out to a IEM transmitter, and plug my headphones into the receiver. By default, nothing gets routed to the headphone jack. However, when you solo a channel, that goes to the headphone out. I don't believe you can route an aux send to the headphone jack. I don't see that as an option in MF.

You can route anything there using the IO patch view. Its on the output tab at the far right called Monitor L and R. By default, the source are the Monitor sends (I know, confusing) which is the LR Mix and when something is Soloed, the Solo bus. But you can change that to be a stereo Aux or Matrix or anything else you want. It's just like any other output. The only difference is there is that Analog Pot that there so you need to adjust it to give the level you are after.

Just to clarify, Ben...

Anything I route to the L and R Monitor outputs goes to the headphone jack, as well as the 1/4" Monitor jacks?

That's not intuitive, but good to know. Thanks.

Hi Folks,

The Quick Access Panel allows Monitor Level control and Delay.
Very useful.

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

It is if you know how the circuit board is laid out. :)

But seriously, you have a good point. We should look into making that text clearer. Will see if "Monitor/Phones" fits.

Why not just publish the schematics as you have done with your older products. That used to be something in Greg's time. For those of us that can understand these it will avoid a lot of guesswork or reverse engineering to get answers.
When in doubt KISS

Yup.

This worked great!    Woohoo!!!!

Gives me an emergency monitor feed for a wired IEM or headphones (could work for a drummer for instance, since I have the mixer on stage).

That's awesome.     The built-in headphone amp sounds 10x better than my cheap stand-alone headphone amp, and no cables to run, or power....

Dunno why I didn't think to ask a year ago!
