Out of warranty mod challenge!
« on: October 12, 2016, 03:53:44 AM »
Sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands! I always use my mixer wireless and it has been bulletproof. I never use an iPad docked in it although I do have a 6 foot 30 pin connector extension if I ever need it and, yes, it all still works. I had an extra computer bag that was screaming for a new life and a 4 year old DL1608 that just seemed too big and just enough electronic knowledge to make me dangerous!

Here it is from the side. No overheating issues, even with the cover over the vent on top.

The chassis is attached to the bag with velcro.

I removed 2lbs 10oz of chassis and fashioned a lightweight frame of foam core. The expanded metal vent is a gutter cover, cut and bent to fit. The 30 pin connector is still there, tucked out of the way under the vent. It took about two hours to do and can be put back together in about a half hour. If someone out there had access to a 3D printer, a slick new housing could be made for the DL1608 that would make it look like a stage box. Any takers?
Here are the "leftovers" from my project.

Nice! I'm really hoping Mackie is working on a DL1608R or DL2412R - I really need something that is rack mountable in a shallow rack...

Hi Oddeotek,

Nice looking work!
If you ever want to part with it...

I'm with RR, would be happy to have a DL2412R that would fit in a shallow rack.
Heat management would be a consideration...

Thanks and good health,  Weogo
