Interested to know if anyone who previously experienced issues with recording to the docked iPad has seen any improvement in 4.6.

If anyone who has the time to experiment it'd be appreciated.

iPad 3/mf4.5 at the minute.

On the installed systems I have, they never had any glitches previously. I mean, they did a long time ago, but not recently ...

Did anyone notice the "Auto" view group?  It's supposed to hide channels with the faders all the way down.

I've just updated and "auto" was the first surprise.

Maybe I don't fully understand the thinking behind "auto" but on first inspection it's something I'd very much like to be able to turn off.

There are often times when I have a fader down, the channel is active but on hold in the mix. When auto is selected my on hold channels disappear but all others are either in view or off to the side.

One of the most useful display features for me has been view groups. With limited screen space I have chosen to group my channels:

Front - vocal mics, fiddle, flute, acoustic gtr - all into their own sub-snake, Delay, Reverb returns
Back - Kit (x5), bass DI, stereo audio from Airplay (airport express)
Groups - iPad music, Delay/reverb returns (again), Kit group (stereo), Vocal group (stereo), VCAs: kit, vocals, melody, monitors.

Each view group fits the maximum 8 channels onto the screen.

As you might imagine auto makes a total mess of this system, requiring frantic swipes to left and right, hopefully not activating anything by accident on the way.

So the answer is simple - don't use auto. Well, it's not been quite as easy as that. I've got quite nimble at flicking between view groups but it's too easy to engage auto inadvertently, resulting in unwanted delays and interrupted flow.

I'm happy to hear why this is a good idea but in the meantime would very much like to remove the option for now.

Otherwise no big issues. I haven't been able to record yet so don't know if that bug's been squashed yet but will be experimenting soon.

I think it depends on the act, of course.  For my main customer, I use a view called Primary, which has the 8 channels I need the most.  Then I use Drum, Vocal, and Keyboard views.

for me, Auto is quite useful

Hi ShuffleBeat,

For Auto I do this:

When I pull an active channel all the way down, I simply bump it up a couple millimeters which keeps it active in the Auto view.

Thanks W. That's a good workaround, I'm still left wondering what problem Auto actually solved though.

My own workaround is to improve my dexterity so as not to engage it at all.

Hi Shufflebeat,

With Auto, when I hit L/R, I see only the faders in the L/R house mix.

When I hit Aux-1, I see only the faders in the Monitor-1 mix.
Or any other Aux, or Effects master.

And when I go back to L/R, I again only see the faders in the L/R house mix.

I do a 'showcase' concert series with a new artist or band on stage every ten to fifteen minutes.
Even though we sound check everybody, many of them still want monitor changes during the show.
Being able to quickly jump between House and Monitors, and have the correct faders shown, is quite useful for me.

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

I see your point. Perhaps I'm a little "established" in my ways and given time I'll find this invaluable, it wouldn't be the first time. Thanks for the input (pun intended).
