X32 Rack Price Drop
« on: January 02, 2014, 04:43:39 PM »
Too bad behringer's holding their x32 rack price point at 1500 .. If they dropped it a few hundred I bet they would consume this market pretty quickly.

That's MAP - every dealer should be able to do it for that or less. It happened today or yesterday - might take some dealers time to get the new pricing into their systems.

Where did you hear of the MAP dropping? Good thing is mine just officially got ordered today. I have 30 days to price match. I actually purchased it for $1275. I had a 15% discount. But if it drops to $1299 I'll get another $170 back.

thanks for the heads up rr. i found a few people talking about the price drop. problem is i havent found any official sites selling the x32s with the reduced prices yet. nor have i found an official announcement. so i actually cancelled my order. now i have to wait for the official pricing to take place. then i'll still get my 15% off.

Hey JL.  Where can I get my 15% off?
Does that have to be there?  Not anymore!

Rr, thank you for the heads up. i called the company i ordered it from. they were unaware of the change. i sent them an email i received back from a product specialist at behringer saying there was indeed a price drop announcement. as well as the post that was listed at soundforums which had the new prices.

they gave me a hell of a deal on the rack. $1083.74 to be exact. i wasn't expecting them to go that low.

Guitar Center and customer appreciation is an oxymoron. The coupon should be called "lack of knowledge and indifference discount".

Damn, pretty close to what I had to pay to get one of the first DL1608's ! I look forward to hearing what you don't like about it ;) .

Seriously, I'm concerned about the I/O being hard to get at on the back mostly. A Core/S16 combo would be almost the same thing with the I/O on the front but more expensive and fewer I/O :( .

Been kicking the idea of packaging the rack for a while. If you're in a chair and want to reasonably deal with the front panel then you need it at a height of around 28". Since the rack is only about 11" deep what do you do with the rest of the case. Simple it will probably hold most of 16 cables of about 30ft length. Side access panel of 17" x 20" would allow plenty of room to get at anything. This of course assumes that you have the tools to make your own cases without chopping your fingers off. This case would be like the old floor PC server units with wheels and a handle in my case. If you want a smaller unit it's easy to just put it into a 1 ft. deep rack case and front and back are equally accessible. You'll have to put it on a table to deal with the front panel and drag all those cables around separately.
I'm not talking about a standard rack case but one with the dimensions of HxWxL of 6.5"x20"x28" to avoid confusion.

Rr, for me the i/o is not an issue. I plan on using it remotely. I'll almost never need to access the front panel. I just need the I/o. Another thing that I do plan on getting in the future is an adat mic pre interface. With the new adat card I can have front mounted inputs. And the price point is great considering I can get 8 channel adat pres for cheap.

Wouldn't the Core + S16 be a better choice? I don't know what the MAP for the S16 is now but it can't be too much more than a couple ADAT boxes and the Core is cheaper than the Rack (and what does the ADAT card cost?) so it might be a wash...

The s16 is $899. The s16 and core is $400 more than the rack. And you lose 6 outputs and 6 inputs. And of course the screen and controls. So, no it's not a better choice.

And in regards to the Adat boxes. This is to add channels. The Adat card will probably be around $150. I can get an Adat mic pre for around $150. So for only $300 more I have a mixer with 30 inputs and 14 outputs.
