Thank you forum! Everyone should carry a backup power supply.
« on: October 08, 2014, 12:43:29 AM »
Just a quick shout out and thanks to everyone on this forum.  I check it pretty much daily although I don't post very often, but thanks to the pin one problem thread, I had purchased a backup power supply and probably would have never thought of carrying an extra one if it wasn't for the advice on that particular thread.  Lo and behold on my last gig, and I use this mixer every weekend, I went to fire up the mixer and the power supply was dead. I dropped the power supply on to the floor from about 3 feet right before I plugged it in and don't know if that's what caused the problem. I just ordered two more off of eBay both under $10 for additional backups. My advice to anyone reading this make sure you have at least one backup just in case.

Yes that's good advice, I take a spare lap top psu and try to use laptops of the same brand and range due to this, I think anything that makes you money on the night, if it has a wall wart, bring a spare.

I'd be interested to know which eBay seller you got your power supplies from. Could you post a link?

Thanks!

A second power supply is a very good idea indeed. I am very paranoid by always taking extra back up stuff to the gig. Mic cables, spare mic, etc. etc. etc. If it's not too much trouble I'd be interested in that link too, regarding power supplies? You never know when something small may just decide to pooch at a critical moment.  :-[

Yes a spare PSU is handy, now if it was a B****nger, you'd be bringing a spare desk maybe?
You reading this Sam lol?

Read the post from the attached link. Ouch, indeed. At least Behringer got involved eventually and expedited a new unit. They appear to be genuinely concerned too.

As I've said here too many times, I always have a backup mixer ready just in case. Sometimes even ready to go at a moments notice, when I feel energetic enough to haul it in and unpack it that is.  :)

I carry a 4 channel Yamaha MG82CX as a spare mixer. IMO it's just crazy not to carry a spare. With this I could at least get the vocals up (and maybe the kick) which would be fine for most smaller venues. I also carry a spare PS for the DL, and a spare router. I've been thinkin' of getting a used DL (should be cheap soon ;) ) to carry for a spare and for linking up to the one I have to get 24 channels if ever needed.  OTOH I might wait for the DL24R ;) .

Just a quick update.  my band and I just performed a three day Greek festival in Mobile Alabama and I used this power supply all weekend http://www.ebay.com/itm/200772780778?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
without a hitch it ran much cooler than the OEM unit that crapped out last month.

Same here. I ordered one.       Standing at a show with a bad power supply yelling  "they were right - I shoulda"  wouldn't be a happy place.

good tip and thanks for the links.
