WTF! 3.0 works so well I'm beside myself!

The title says it all.  :D
Nothing like a bit of sensationalism to grab a headline ;)

Are you saying that you're impressed?  I am.

I'm not having any problems with MF 3.0.  But I didn't have any problems with MF 2.x either.  I once experienced the docked loss of sync.  Probably because of a low charge on the ipad.  Always making sure it's full up now.  (And I always carry an ipad mini for wireless control too.)

I thought the digital trim would be my favorite feature of the upgrade, but really digging the sub groups and VCAs! Playing with the Dave Rat method. Very cool!

I believe he was referring to using a VCA (1) on the entire rack of inputs feeding into a group with compression on the group.  Then he pointed VCA (2) at the group control.  That way he was able to push the mixer into compression or out of compression without increasing or decreasing the actual output.  Pretty slick trick.

NP, this is the first mixer I've used with subs and VCAs. I mix from stage with my band, so this is a definite improvement for me, and I didn't have to upgrade hardware.

Me too when I'm playing. I also do live sound for a small listening room several times a month. Haven't used the Mackie for that yet, using a Crest XR20 so no VCAs, but I do a similar technique with the busses on it.

Also an added bonus of the new groups on the DL1608 is doing parallel bus compression, something else that can be cool. I'll often do it for very dynamic vocalists - assign your vocals to your main mix and a buss, compress the buss but not the mains (or use a lighter compression) and blend to taste. Thickens the sound up and brings the quieter things up without squashing the dynamics too much.

Whenever someone mentions dynamics, I immediately think about the song "The Letters" by King Crimson.  (On their Islands album.)  You can't listen to that song in a running car.  it starts at a whisper and in the middle is screaming.  (And they made this with analog technology.)

Did my first gig with 3.0 and my trusty DL1608 last Friday - it was our regular Open Mic, so plenty of fader / EQ / 'more me in the monitors' action!

It performed flawlessly - all my presets were there - it just 'worked'... thanks Mackie

Looking forward to getting my DL32R for the bigger gigs...
